A Story of Starting

Posted by:

Every day I learn a little bit more about the difference between wanting and being, between trying to be different and making a difference, and between awareness and love. A gulf between each of these is quite considerable, and if you ignore the interplay between these opposing forces you are in for quite the ride!

Yes, you want success now.

Yes, you want more people to take notice.

And most certainly yes, you want to do work that is meaningful.

You won’t, however, find it in marketing tactics or communication channels. Those approaches draw their considerable strength from something far more elemental – a deeper sense of purpose and value.

If you’re wondering how to move forward ask yourself this¦

What will it take to get to a place of knowing, of walking the talk, making a difference, and connecting with someone in a manner that demands attention?

There are times hen I’ve found even the simplest of stories, experiences, and exchanges to be deeply moving. In those moments, I’m unable to break away from the messenger because she starts from a place of purpose I can feel and relate to.

Better yet, her story reinforces the story I tell myself!

If you feel yourself drifting off course, remind yourself of your purpose and passion. Live your work, don’t simply do it. Only then will your other strategies begin to bear fruit.

P.S. Hope you are enjoying your summer!! – David

Oh, David! I love the simplicity of your message here! I think the reason stories resonate with so many people is that they allow us to float up feelings. And, it doesn’t really matter which feelings we float up . . . they always connect us (for good or bad) to each other.

I know you make a difference because you have centered your business on a sense of purpose and passion for service. Wishing you a lovely summer season!

Hi David, Your post reminded me of a quote, and of course I can’t remember it word for word, but it was something like…our feeling of wanting is greater than our feeling of having and the challange is to feel want for what we have.

Hum, it’s like we can forget that what we have was once something we wanted.
Take care, have a lovley summer!
